I’m on the verge of finishing up my last few sessions & weddings before the new year hits, and I am one happy camper. I LOVE this time of year and everything about it: cookie-baking, family, pine tree smell, decorations, lights… it is really the most wonderful time of the year. If there are red and green M&M’s in all the candy dishes, then it’s definitely Christmas! I love hunkering down in our little home right now.

Speaking of which, every once and awhile there are a few brave Midwestern souls who decide not to hunker down and go for a holiday engagement session instead, which is totally awesome! I love when couples think outside the box and want to do something different. Tim and Joy made perfect December-time subjects, they even were ready to walk into the Christkindlmarket crowd to get a few shots inside the festivities! While we didn’t get to drink spiced wine out of a boot, we did come back with these adorable shots. :)

I had walked all around it, but never walked through it. Isn’t that crazy? A few weeks ago I had my chance, because the awesome Nate and Emily came along and were up for such a cool adventure through the zoo. It was one of those crazy/beautiful fall evenings in Chicago where it was unseasonably warm and the skyline was totally clear. We said hello to the tigers, discovered some cool architecture, and even snapped a few photos of Emily in her towering heels (gorgeous!)… I think this shoot totally captures fall in the city, and Nate and Emily looking amazing in it!

Luke and Andrea came to their first meeting with me knowing that they wanted to do a little studio setup that involved painting a heart with their wedding date… how fun is that? So we met in the west loop at my church and did just that! We got to do a few photos afterward in the lobby, around the neighborhood, in a park, and all around the west loop, and it was fantastic to get to know these two as we walked around a part of the city that is so close to my heart.

If these two came straight away with an idea like this, I can’t wait to see what their wedding holds! Super fun/adorbs/creative!
