What am I going to do during this break, you may ask? Apart from moving into a new house (yay!): tons of e-sessions, portraits, and editing like there’s no tomorrow! Fall is definitely the start of slowing down in the midwestern wedding season, but it’s also the time where people start to say, “hey, let’s take advantage of that engagement session before it gets cold out!” or “we really need a family photo for our Christmas card!” I love this season. Don’t get me wrong, weddings are amazing, but every fall the craziest part of my year ends, and I need to recharge and refocus on making Kate Miller Photography awesome. Plus, I LOVE portrait sessions! 2 hours where I get to just hang out with couples and families and capture who they are? YES please! :) Plus, there’s going to be a whole lot of blogging happening in the next few days (Joel and I are turning out sessions like it’s going out of style!). Here’s the first of many to come.

We first got a chance to really hang out with Andrew and Christianna during their city engagement session, and let me tell you something, we learned SO much about Chicago that day. They showed us the most amazing portrait spots, and it was just plain fun to hang out with them! Fast forward to their wedding a few months later: the get married in an amazingly beautiful church, followed by a fun, intimate reception at a restaurant on the north side. What’s not to love? We had a blast capturing their big day, we hope you love admiring it!

June? July? Me too! But surprisingly, September shaped up to be the busiest and craziest month this year! Weird, right? I guess it makes sense when you really think about it, we’re out of the hottest months and not quite to the super cold point yet. Hasn’t it been beautiful out here, Midwesterners? Averages in the 70′s with no clouds in the sky… I love love love it. And September means one thing: fall is coming. Which means: Apple picking in Wisconsin, the smell of fire pits burning in backyards, colored leaves, Pumpkin Spice Lattes (!!!), warm sweaters, Halloween candy… I love summertime, but I’m starting to get so excited for fall! How about you?

Awhile back, Joel and I got up in the morning and took a little drive to Fort Wayne, Indiana, to take pictures of Luke and Lisa’s awesome wedding! I had never been to Fort Wayne, but we got a chance to drive around and tour the town while taking bride/groom shots, and I really liked it… so many beautiful houses and awesome parks to walk around in. Not to mention, Luke and Lisa were so sweet and easygoing, definitely our kind of people to be around! Makes me want to go to Indiana more often. :) Thanks for being so kind and amazing ya’ll!

I feel like it just started to get warm outside, school just let out, and I was just getting into the crazy wedding season. It’s late summer already? Sheesh! Surprisingly enough, I’m getting excited for fall, but I’m not going to get ahead of myself! Time to focus on the here and now, and August isn’t going to disappoint…it’ll certainly my busiest and craziest month yet. :)

Trent and Stephanie got married in an art museum. If that doesn’t make your creative side jump for joy, I don’t know what will! It was such a joy-filled day — I can’t think of any other more perfect way to describe it — tons of smiles and happiness and… well… joy! Family and friends were SO excited to see Trent and Stephanie start their new lives together, and their kindness and love was infectious! We had a blast, wandering amongst art and capturing their big day. Check it out!

Yeah, they totally had a rice crispy treat cake. I was geeking out!
